My initial thoughts were of caution, if playing fast works for you then great, but the conversations about the story should help you accurately size it and therefore help give better knowledge about the product backlog. This should help the ordering and provide feedback to the business about the costs / benefits of certain tasks.
Having said that, I like the idea of the initial matching as a good way to optimise, as long as everyone is strong enough not to bow to peer pressure and has a similar level of background (story) knowledge then it should prove to be a good speed up!
